Ever since she was a young girl growing up in the Scottish highlands, music has been Maia’s love and refuge. Her unique voice was first evident in Carnoustie’s church choir and she has been singing and making music ever since. After a successful spell session singing and being in bands in the 1990’s and noughties, she taught herself to play guitar and songwriting became a nightly routine as a single mother after putting her daughters to bed. Through this, she developed the personal, confessional style that has become her trademark.

Her personal lyrics about life, loss and love bring Jackson Browne to mind, while her voice is reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and K.D. Lang.

Her EP ‘New Horizons’ is out now and she is establishing herself as an exquisite and bewitching new voice in the Indie-folk scene. She is currently back in the studio recording songs for her debut album.
